Beer Guide #4: Loco Juice, Tropical Pale from Mobberley Brewhouse.
Well, it's about time we featured one of the local heroes for our Knutsford Beer Festival showcase isn't it? So it's over to Mobberley Brewhouse which produces its beer less than six miles from the festival venue, The Courthouse, and owns the chain of craft bars PROJECT 53.
The Brewery
Mobberley Brewhouse, in, erm…Mobberley!
Run by one of the country’s youngest brewery owners – James Roberts – Mobberley Brewhouse (MBH) produces modern, flavourful craft beer with hop impact and character. Thanks to the young entrepreneur’s business nous, dynamic approach and willingness to experiment and innovate with bold recipes, MBH beers have made an impression far beyond Cheshire and can be found in fridges all over the country and online stores like Honest Brew. The self-taught brewer set up the business in 2011 and originally just made traditional cask and bottled ale. But inspired by the likes of Cloudwater and Brewdog, MBH now specialises in hop-forward beers and as well as having its own tap rooms in Knutsford and Stockport, the brewery has a £100,000 in-house canning line. James’s brewery has recently made waves with its limited edition white label range which features the likes of double dry hopped IPAs, imperial stouts and double IPAs. But just as popular are MBH’s tropical session pale ales and IPAs.
The Beer
Loco Juice, Tropical Pale, 4.2%
Easy drinking and totally smashable. With a quietly assertive flavour profile, it's the sort of session beer that's perfect for keeping the conversation flowing without having to worry about wobbling out of the pub - or in this case the festival. It's bitter sweet with big notes of passion fruit and an orange zest finish.
