£10K raised for charity
200 children will receive a sack full of Christmas toys on Christmas Day thanks to the Beer Festival donation.
Following our sell-out festival at Egerton Place in April, we are delighted to announced that we’ve raised £10,000 for our charities. What an unbelievable achievement. To have raised this much money for charity, at a time when businesses are still struggling and cost of living is so high, is just fantastic. We cannot thank you all enough: our sponsors, volunteers and everyone who came along to drink beer and be merry. It was truly one of our best events to date.
The £10,000 that was raised at the festival will be given to two local charities: the Toy Appeal and Knutsford Primary Schools Ball Association who will receive £5,000 each. The Toy Appeal is a local charity that sends sacks of toys to underprivileged families for Christmas. This year’s target is approaching 10,000 sacks.
Dee Drake, founder of the Toy Appeal told us,
“We are so grateful to the beer festival for this incredible donation. We were delighted to be chosen as one of their nominated charities but we had no idea they would raise so much money for us! We’ve just calculated that this will pay for 200 sacks of toys. That’s 200 children who will be receiving a sack full of Christmas presents on Christmas Day. These are children that we know would have nothing to open on Christmas Day if we didn’t send them something. It doesn’t matter how long we’ve been doing this or how many children we’ve already helped; the thought of even one child not having presents to open on Christmas Day still upsets me. So, we are truly grateful to Andrew and all the team for helping us to give even more children a red sack full of toys at Christmas.”
Knutsford Primary Schools PTAs receive £5,000 for extra school equipment and learning resources.
The second charity that has been nominated by the Beer Festival to receive a donation is the Knutsford Primary Schools Ball Committee. This committee represents the PTAs at each of the four Knutsford state primary schools and will be used to help buy items such as outdoor equipment, learning materials and library resources as well as provide extracurricular activities such as hatching chicks and musical performances.
The Knutsford Primary Schools Ball will take place on Friday 17th June at Toft Cricket Club. If you’d like to attend the event, or support them in another way, you can find out more on their facebook page.
Thank you.
This year, we had over 800 people come to visit us and my word, you were a thirsty lot! We worked our way through over 40 casks/kegs of beer, plus cider, gin, wine and even a good amount of alcohol-free drinks. Thank you all for supporting us. We’ll see you next year 🍺
